These Terms of Service (“Terms”) apply to your access to and use of CaseDock, operated by CaseDock (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By using CaseDock, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

The service and public records

CaseDock is an independent research tool that brings together public case records and related links. CaseDock is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or an official service of NamUs or the Doe Network. Records may be incomplete, outdated, approximate, or contain errors; locations may be generalized. Verify information with the original source before relying on it.

CaseDock provides research tools only, not legal, investigative, medical, emergency, or professional advice. Do not use the service as a substitute for contacting the appropriate authorities or the original record source.

Accounts and acceptable use

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for activity under it. Provide accurate account information and promptly protect your account if you believe it has been accessed without permission.

Use CaseDock lawfully and respectfully. Do not use it to harass, threaten, identify or target private individuals, interfere with investigations, violate another person’s rights, or disrupt or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service. Do not misuse, scrape, or redistribute data in violation of applicable law or the terms of its source.

Free access and membership

Free accounts may access up to 30 distinct public cases per UTC day. CaseDock Plus currently provides unlimited public case access and the ability to comment on case records for $19 USD per month. Features and prices may change; any material subscription-price change will be communicated before it applies to a renewal, as required by law.

Paid subscriptions renew automatically until canceled. You can manage or cancel your subscription through the Stripe billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period unless the checkout or applicable law states otherwise. Refunds are handled as required by applicable law and any terms shown at checkout. Payment processing is provided by Stripe.

Comments and community conduct

Comments are visible to signed-in members and associated with the case record and the display name on your account. CaseDock Plus members may post comments; signed-in members may delete their own comments. Do not post private personal information, unsupported accusations, speculation presented as fact, harassment, threats, or content that could interfere with an investigation. We may remove content or restrict accounts when reasonably necessary to address abuse, safety, legal obligations, or a breach of these Terms.

Community forum discussions and replies are visible to signed-in members and associated with your account display name. Signed-in members may create discussions and replies, delete their own discussions, and report content for review. Reports are associated with your account and the reported post. Forum participation is subject to the same community-conduct rules; never use the forum to identify or target private individuals or interfere with an investigation.

Our content and third-party services

CaseDock’s software and presentation are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Public records, source links, and third-party news content remain subject to their respective owners’ rights and terms. CaseDock may link to services or information operated by third parties and is not responsible for their content, availability, or practices.

Availability and changes

We may update, suspend, or discontinue parts of CaseDock to maintain or improve the service. We may restrict or suspend access when reasonably necessary to address abuse, security, legal obligations, or a material breach of these Terms.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, CaseDock is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that public-source information is complete or accurate. Nothing in these Terms limits rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be limited.

To the extent permitted by law, CaseDock will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, arising from use of the service. Any liability limitation applies only as permitted by applicable law.

Changes to these Terms

We may revise these Terms as the service changes. We will update the date above when we publish a revision. Where required, we will provide notice before material changes take effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the revised Terms.
